A very warm welcome to the first edition of the Saltash Voice.
It’s an exciting addition to the Voice Newspapers group, and one that comes in a week where many businesses in the town, and indeed up and down the county, are re-opening their doors.
The past year has certainly brought its challenges and sadness, but importantly hope. As lockdown restrictions gradually ease, there is now light at the end of the tunnel.
The Voice team is delighted to be part of Saltash and our new offices will soon be open in the heart of Fore Street.
We will do all we can to support Saltash, its businesses and community.
We want to be an earpiece for everything that is happening, both in the town and surrounding areas. It is your paper and we want you to be part of it.
Whether it’s news from one of the local sports clubs, reports from club meetings, school achievements, village show reports - let us know, so we can let our readers know!
Our aim is to be hyper local, entertaining, diverse, inclusive and informative. From town councils to Rotary clubs, Lions to the Foodbank, the list is endless.
Your MP, Sheryll Murray, was kind enough to give us a warm welcome. She said: “I am delighted to hear the news that the Voice group of newspapers are launching their new title, and I would like to thank Peter Masters for showing support for the largest town in my constituency of South East Cornwall.
“I look forward to communicating with my constituents through a column and I am looking forward to reading news reports about Saltash and the surrounding area.
“I would like to say to the Saltash Voice, welcome to Saltash, thank you for showing support for the Town and I hope the Saltash Voice, with offices based in Fore Street, will grow from strength to strength.”
Sheryll can be contacted via her constituency office at The Parade, Liskeard, PL14 6AF, on 01579 344428 or by email at
My first editor always spoke of the importance in a local newspaper of ‘names and faces’ – the key to local journalism.
That’s what we want to show, the people of Saltash doing what they love.
And while Saltash is our main focus, the patch also extends to Torpoint and Rame Head, Tideford and Trerulefoot.
So please, call in to the office when we open, drop us a line or email, or give us a ring. You can also find us on Facebook and Twitter.
The paper will hit the shelves every Wednesday and with your ongoing help, you can rest assured that if it’s gone on, it’s gone in!
